So, my world seems to be a fluid thing. In the last six months I've changed jobs, changed majors. My best friend got a girl and my kid sister who lived with me got married; so now I have to find someone elts to hang out with and a new roommate. Bad news is I am really really bad at making new friends. I'm not talking about acquaintances. I'm talking about real friends, any monkey can acquire people. It takes me years to find a good one. My last one took over four years to marinate then he went and got himself all punch drunk. In all fairness he deserves to be happy and I don't begrudge him that. If forced, I'd even admit she is a likable sort and to her credit she has gone out of her way to be nice to me. Which is a change from the norm, the girlfriends usually do not like me at all. So... like I said, she's likable. Besides, he is my best friend and I guess its worth the effort. I'm sure she feels the same way. If he's happy then I'm happy... I totally sound like I'm trying to convince myself don't I. Maybe I am.
My Sister got married on the march fourth. The weeks leading up to the event were packed with her, work and school. (In that order) Every weekend was back to Idaho the week of, I had less then 10 hours of sleep (the entire week) and it was my lady time. Suffice it to say emotions were running on high. What makes it worse is everyone kept asking me if I was alright. Lets face it, when thing are strained the last thing you need to hear is, "you look like your about ready to splinter into a million pieces"; which is what they are actually saying. So just a side note, when talking to a person who prides themselves in there calm, never point out that that you can see their cracks. If they're really cracking up and your stupid enough to poke at the beast, its your own fault if they bite off one of your limbs. It wasn't pretty. My sister texted me from California and I almost cried. What can I say I'm an oak. She seems happy though. More relaxed then she's been in several months. I'm glad, she had me worried.... I guess you could say I'm happy she's happy.

Your way, My way. Lets all hike the Subway!!
Jake is closely related to one of the monkey families.
the sand out of their shoes.
left cheek looked like road rash.
Yep, good times!
fish...no worries, he never caught one. :)
Lots of water.
Lots.
Beautiful views.
Jake on the slick rock.
So excited!!

So I went to hike the Subway on the 25th of August. May I just say this is quite possibly the coolest hike I have ever been on. We started @ about 11a.m. and rapped it up @ 5ish. Including the 45 minuet detour at the beginning, it all rocked. Down the slick rock, up the hill, over the cliff, threw the ice water, around the boulders, in the frigged water, following the stream, and sliding down the ropes. ...Oh yea did I mention being neck deep in the freaking freezing water. Yep, can't wait to do it, or something like it again. I think that my favorite part may have been the 30 below zero water temp. :)

So, I ran the Wasatch Back on the 17th and 18th of June. Can I just say SOOOOO much fun!!! 186 miles, stretching form Logan UT to Park City UT in 34 hours & 34 minutes, all with maybe 4 hours of sleep total. Okay so we didn't win... or even come close to winning; and by not even close I mean that the winners came in at 18 hours and change. They started like 9 hours after us, passed us like we were going backwards, and then finished before we were even half way done. Sick, I know!
There were 1300 teams of 12 with 3 volunteers to each team. If you add to that the food vendors and sanitation workers (bless there beautiful souls). This race is huge! Each member of the race runs three different legs averaging from 13-23 miles total. I had 3 of the smaller legs (thank heavens), about a half marathon. I did manage to constantly shave off 10-15 minutes off my estimated time for each leg. by the end of my last leg I was doing this jog, shuffle, stumble, gimp, walk, jog, cycle. I'm sure I looked hilarious. we all met our last runner at the end and went over the finish line together. At that point I could barley walk so trying to finish with everyone was comical at best. It took me about 24hours to walk normal again, but I'm already signed up to do it again next year. Good times!
...I think I'll train this time. :-)

Pending Doom
I was sitting on the couch wasting my day off postulating about the past events and the events to come. One in particular looming event is that school starts in just under four weeks. I enrolled for classes Monday at 12:10a.m. and then I couldn't sleep for the rest of the night. It is as if my execution date has been set and I have a few short weeks to get my affairs in order. Dramatic I know but consider this, once again I am shackled to one place. I will have homework that is never finished. So, no matter what I am doing I have that nagging voice in the back of my head saying "you should be studying", or "you should be making a better use of your time".
I walk into that classroom on the first day and I feel it, everybody does, that is why they keep coming back. That promise of possibilities, the what if, the big beautiful feeling of hope. There I am with my freshly sharpened pencils, clean white paper, and naive excitement that comes with hope. I walk through the door and find me a seat close to the front. Never in the middle; there is always something in the way making it difficult to get a clear view of the notes. Not next to some one if I can help it; I like to spread out so can see everything at once. Most importantly, close enough to the front so there are less distractions between myself and the the subject at hand. Anal I know. He/she passes out the syllabus and make a few jokes about how this class is going to be hard and that you should be spending at least two hours out of class for every one hour in class. (I worked it out once and in order to study "enough" for all the classes I was taking and work full time, I would get between 2-4 hours of sleep a night but only on the days that I didn't have a lab).
Last fall was supposed to finish my AAS. I had been accepted to nursing school the following winter and I was talking this one last class before starting. Two days before the semester started I received a letter from the nursing school stating that one of my classes was out of order and that in order to begin the program I needed to take it over again. Now, this was not just any class, this class happened to be the bane of my very existence. Physiology. I had already taken it several times before and I struggled to say the least.
Just a side note about the act of enrolling in the particular class. Physiology is not offered in any other school in the valley except SLCC. It is usually one of the first classes to fill up and you have to sign up for the class as well as the lab simultaneously. So imagine how excited I was to receive this news two days before the semester began. To top this all off I was already set up with classes in a different school, financial aide and all. So I had to unenroll in one school, start over with financial aide and enroll into a different school with the hopes of getting into the class I needed so that the nursing school wouldn't drop me from their program. I did finally get into a class but for me it was the worst possible professor. She is good at what she does and she loves the subject but she was also in love with essays. I am awful at essays. There were at least three on very test that amounted to be worth at least 35-40% of your test grade. I do not wright that fast. I have been writing this blog entry for over an hour and it isn't that long. The tests were all timed. You had one hour and ten minutes to answer a mixture of 60 questions and then wright out three complete essays, gramer and punctuation counted (also things I'm not great at). I studied my tookus off for the first three tests and never got above a 68%. I sort of gave up after that. Suffice it to say I didn't get to go to nursing school and I had my self a small come apart.
The question has been posed as to whether or not I should continue to attempt this line of reasoning. Perhaps I am not cut out for it or that it may lead me into a life of sin... come on. First of all I have met allot of extremely stupid nurses in my time at the hospital and I promise you this, if they can do it, I sure as H can. As for the life of sin, yeah I could see that. Every Friday is dress like your favorite naughty nurse day with free shots for lunch, and just for kicks, we have a sturdy table if anyone should get the inclination to dance. I have resisted the temptation to join in thus far, but I can feel myself softening. :p
So enough of memory lane, the question now is where do I go from here. Do I 1: potentially waste more time attempting to go into a field that does not seem to want me, or 2: do I look for something new, which translates into start over again. Neither option makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Or is it some thing entirely different. My failure is 100% my own doing. I own that as a solid fact. So what is it that is holding my back from doing what it is I need to in order to succeed. Is it the fear of failure self fulfilled or the fear of success. Which brings me around to starting school in a couple of weeks. I am with out a doubt dreading going back. Do I need more time off or do I just need a swift kick in the head to finally finish. And to finish what exactly? I don't know the answers, I am a bit frustrated and confused.

Damn the Man!
So, I got a "big promotion" at work a little bit ago and my boss said that it may take a little bit to show up on my pay check. Well the pay check before last I worked 70 hours with one day of overtime. This last paycheck I worked 80 hours pulse 2 full days of overtime. my paycheck was $20 bucks less then the one before. Dose that sound right to you... anyone... anyone. So I took my pay stub into my boss thinking surly there must have been some mistake. Much to my chagrin there was "no mistake". Apparently my "big promotion" came with a two dollar an hour pay cut... ... yeah for me. Stupidhead.
By the way, Happy Tax Day!! Oh yeah! Did you know it was tax day cause I sure didn't. Yep, it snuck up on me again this year like a smack to the back of the head. That's right, our government is not unlike that large cloud of mosquitoes that you unwittingly walk right into. There you are, walking down the street, minding your own business when out of no where there's one in your eye and two just flew into your ear. Then come the kamikaze fighters that shoot right up your nose and embed themselves into your brain. Of course we try to resist and dislodge the foul creature by smacking ourselves in the head, contorting our faces, bugging out our eyes, and dancing around a bit; but in the end, that is where the mind control sets in. That's how they get us to donate 33% of our paychecks and call it our civic duty. (Lol. I could totally be one of those crazy people who rant at the trees in the park.)

Because I can.
So, lets start from the top. I am not a gifted spellbinder (a speaker of compelling eloquence), nor can I spell well (lets keep the laughter to a minimum, thank you). I do not have the attention span required to maintain an on going diatribe. I may as well be up front and tell you that I am famous for starting new projects and then setting them aside once my attention has been snagged elsewhere, suffice it to say this latest endeavor has been met with some resistance. Firstly from my fantastic older sister, who after trying to talk me out of it then spent the better part of the last 1 1/2 hours helping me set this site up. 3 cheers for... I'm not sure what to call her... Sister #1, 2cool4words, hold please...(I called her to ask what I should call her and she said Tiff. Boring but whatever) So 3 cheers for Tiff. Yeah!x3.
I talked to Melvin about it and he poopooed is saying that people use blogs to whine and complain. All I have to say about that is... Shut up. Maybe I have some things I need to get off my chest. So no promises. That brings me around to the biggest point of all. I am in no way setting out to offend anybody. I will not by any means appologize for thinking or feeling the way I do, nor do I appologize for changing my mind about how I think or feel. I will grant you the freedom to think and feel however you want to so all I'm asking in return is that same freedom. So long as we are all clear on this I think this could be fun.
